After sending a cease-and-desist order, Amazon sued the top AI search company, Perplexity, to prevent its Comet browser agent from shopping on behalf of users. The apparent motivation is a loss of revenue for Amazon’s paid product ads when they are no longer being shown to a human user.
Shopping agents are rapidly changing E-commerce, with 1/3 of product searches now coming from AI. This first major lawsuit of the agentic economy is unlikely to be the last.
🤖 AGENT OF THE WEEK
👋 Welcome back to Agent of the Week!
Ever wanted your own secretary?
All the big C-suite execs usually have one—but for most of us, that’s a luxury we’ll never get.
So, I built one!
I made an agent that acts like my personal secretary, just for scheduling meetings inside email threads.
Meet Donna, my AI agent assistant (yes, that’s a Suits reference).
When I CC Donna on a thread, I just ask her to find a time that works for the other person and schedule the meeting. She replies with my available times, and boom — I’ve got what most people would think is a personal secretary.
She even reschedules meetings if needed. It all happens naturally in the same email thread, and the other person never knows it’s an agent... unless you tell them.
It feels exactly like having your own personal secretary managing your inbox.
🧠 How It Works
Gmail Trigger → Email Thread Detection
The agent activates the moment Donna is CC’d or mentioned in an email chain.Chat Model (GPT-4.1 mini) → Intent Recognition
Donna reads the email and figures out what’s needed:Scheduling a new call
Suggesting available times
Rescheduling an existing meeting
Simple Memory → Who’s the Boss?
Donna knows who she works for — your name, email, and calendar — so she always replies as your assistant.Calendar Integration → Find Availability
Donna checks your Google Calendar and picks out friendly time options (e.g. “Tuesday at 2 PM or Wednesday morning”).Gmail Reply In Minutes → Seamless Communication
She replies directly in the thread with a message like:
“Hi Sarah, happy to coordinate a time for Akshay. Here are a few slots he’s available…”Smart Scheduling & Rescheduling
When someone confirms, Donna books it.
If they ask to change, Donna automatically reschedules and sends an updated invite.
This agent is perfect if you:
Hate going back and forth on meeting times
Want to look more professional and responsive
Or just want to say you have your own “Donna” — straight out of Suits.
If you want to build this step-by-step, I walk through the full setup inside our Building AI Agents Community.
